Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the application of thin needles into specific areas or acupoints within the body. Acupuncture can only be done by trained and registered Acupuncturists or Chinese medicine practitioners and is typically carried out in combination with other therapies such as moxibustion, cupping or tui nah.

Is acupuncture safe/does it hurt?

Acupuncture, like many health therapies, is considered safe when carried out in the appropriately trained hands of a professional. However, like most therapies it does carry a risk of adverse side effects which can normally be avoided or easily managed.
Due to the size and thinness of the needle acupuncture should not hurt. It is likely you will feel something however these are often described more as sensations with their intensity easily managed by the practitioner.
